Job Summary:

The Architectural Designer, will coordinate designs and draft architectural plans, while ensuring compliance with CA and local building codes and regulations.  The ideal candidate will possess expertise in construction assemblies, building materials and San Luis Obispo County-specific codes and practices in the delivery of high-quality projects. 

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of residential and commercial construction assemblies / best practices, while actively coordinating design and equipment with consultants and other disciplines;

Prepare and deliver architectural drawings, exhibiting proficiency in drafting plans and ensuring accurate documentation;

Coordinate with city/county authorities and related organizations, promptly following through Agency List, planning submissions, resubmissions and permit submissions;

Manage time and workload efficiently to meet project deadlines and commitments, while maintaining periodic interaction and direction with General Contractor;

Take ownership of completing the final Draft Plan for Permits, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulation;.

Coordinate with team members to select appropriate building products and compose comprehensive written specifications;

Provide valuable insight during construction administration;

Meet with clients to discuss projects and specifics;

Prepare quantity takeoffs through internal software application;

Visit building project worksites to ensure work is being completed according to the architectural plans, as necessary;

Provide mentorship and training to Assistant Architectural Designer. 

Qualifications: 

At least 8 years of experience as an Architectural Designer, focused on residential and/or commercial building projects;

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, preferred;

At least 4 years’ experience with CAD/drafting software; experience with Revit and Vectorworks, a plus;

Proficiency in Sketch Up and Microsoft Office Suite software;

Innovative graphic design skills:

Astute oral and written communication, attentive listening and interpersonal skills;

Exceptional customer service, organizational, time management, project management, problem-solving, attention to detail, multi-tasking and follow-through skills;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment. 

Compensation:

$105,867 - $145,984 annual base salary DOE, for this full-time, exempt position. 

Benefits:

40 hours of annual paid time off during 1st year of employment on an accrual basis; increasing to 80 hours in 2nd – 4th years and 120 hours in year 5 and thereafter;

40 hours of paid sick time annually allotted in a lump sum on start date (prorated) and anniversary date);

9 paid public holidays annually;

Health insurance coverage for employee only.

8:00AM – 5:00PM Monday - Friday
