Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President and Project Manager, the Project Engineer will support the Project Managers; act as the bridge between technical design and the administrative link through the management of project documentation, coordination and quality control, in maintaining the project schedule on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling, overall project planning, problem-solving, organizing the acquisition of materials, equipment, staffing needs, planning for costs and various other tasks, as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Review architectural and engineering drawings, generate requests and process RFIs and handle material submittals;
Coordinate with project architects, designers, owners, and field personnel.
Coordinate with Project Managers on bid analysis, constructability reviews and permit processing;
Assist Project Managers with tracking budgets, reviewing subcontractor bills and maintaining project timelines;
Utilize and accurately input data into industry-related software to include Bluebeam, ProCore, MS Project, MS Excel, BuilderTrend, Planswift, etc.;
Inspect all work to ensure compliance that plans and specifications and being adhered to, in addition to building codes, blueprints and safety guidelines are being met;
Offer technical information to Project Managers to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications;
Connect general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and Project Managers to clear any roadblocks;
Have a general understanding of project budget and assist with buyouts.
Monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis, provide timely and accurate quality reports, and raise issues to PM or Superintendent as appropriate.
Plan and organize construction engineering projects from conception to completion.
Generate project punch list and closeout documentation.
Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in an Engineering-related discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) or Construction Management construction-related or civil engineering discipline; Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
At least 3 years of relevant experience within a construction-related environment in project estimation, project management, or project coordination, including planning, scheduling and task delegation;
Proficiency in preparing and managing Submittals, RFIs and other construction-related documentation
Possess a general understanding of project budgets and assist with buyouts;
Certifications such as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or Engineer in Training (EIT), preferred;
Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and industry-specific engineering principles;
Experience with Bluebeam, MS Project, MS Excel;
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications;
A willingness to learn. be coached and mentored;
Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
Strong analytical, mathematical and computer skills required;
Astute time management, attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem-solving, analytical, follow-through and customer service skills;
Ability to work effectively alone and within a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative team environment;
Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and vehicle.
Compensation:
$80,000 - $110,000 DOE annual base salary for this full-time, exempt position.

7:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday
