Automation/Robotics Sales Engineer - CNC Machine Tools Distributor

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Vice President, Sales, the Automation Sales Engineer will assist customers/partners in meeting their business goals through automation project design, utilizing solutions developed through customer data analysis, material handling system design, simulation, site visits and customer direction.  This individual will work alongside our customer/partner manufacturers to continue to grow the department, increase automation sales, market share and profitability.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Engineers in gathering pertinent information to design, build and sell simple automation cells that are affordable, efficient and operator friendly; 

Receive, review and prepare customer/partner RFQs (request for quotes); assess validity and feasibility of RFQs and provide clarification or alternatives as required; provide feedback to Sales Department regarding RFQs;

Review completed customer/partner quotes for content, accuracy and pricing; submit quotes to customers/partners; conduct status follow-up in a timely manner;

Visit partnership manufacturing facilities, evaluate best-use applications tailored specifically for their individual needs and provide consultation therein, in an effort to build/maintain trustworthy customer relationships;

Coordinate customer needs through the Service Department and promote value-added products, benefits and services to customers thereof;

Enter direct and indirect sales calls, notes, comments and any other important information into our internal systems;

Analyze automation market conditions and develop annual sales projections and plans;

Coordinate sales execution plans with direct internal account handlers and outside distribution across the U.S. and Canada;

Travel to existing customer and distributor locations to assess their needs;

Attend pertinent trade shows; assist with marketing with messaging capabilities, new product rollouts, promotions, competition and brand awareness initiatives;

Train Sales Department in connection with internal products and services beneficial to the end-customer;

Must be able to travel initially within the Cincinnati and Cleveland areas and in due course, throughout the US and to a lesser extent, Canada.

Qualifications:

At least 3 years of proven, recent experience in a similar sales / business development role involving automation, special machines, assembly systems, robotics and turn-key productivity systems;

Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in a manufacturing, robotics, engineering, or similar discipline; Bachelor’s Degree, a plus;

Knowledge of working with OEMs;

Maintain current knowledge regarding company’s products, services and ability to utilize that knowledge with the communication to customers/partners effectively and determine customer/partner needs therein;

Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Exceptional time management, organizational, accuracy, multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving, presentation, customer service and follow-through skills

Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment.

Compensation:

$82,000 - $97,000 Base salary range, DOE, for this full-time, exempt position;

Commission structure up to 20% of the profit if the sale was sold direct by this individual, or, 1% of the net profit if sold through a direct field sales engineer or distributor. 

Benefits:

80 hours of annual paid vacation during years 1-5 allotted in a lump sum after 90 days of employment and/or on January 1 thereafter;

40 hours of annual paid personal time, allotted in a lump sum after 90 days of employment and/or on January 1 thereafter;

Medical insurance coverage paid 75% for the employee and employee’s dependents via either an HSA Plan, or PPO Buy-Up Plan,

Dental, vision insurance coverage paid 75% for the employee and 60% for employee’s dependents by the company;

Life insurance for the employee of $25K paid by company;

Supplemental life, disability and accident insurance offered by the company but paid 100% by the employee;

ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) retirement program

401(K) not employee matched.

Working Hours:  

8:00AM - 5:00PM Monday - Friday with flexibility as necessary
