Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Consumer Loans / Real Estate Lending, the Mortgage Loan Processor will assist members with requests for home loan services, including counseling, prequalifying and processing all types of real estate and mobile home loan applications.  The ideal candidate will additionally assist  members with all inquiries pertaining to the application process; establish and maintain productive relationships with credit union member service/branch, underwriting and servicing team members; receive, evaluate and review loan applications for completeness.   In conjunction with other team members, the person will obtain and validate all necessary supporting loan documents/information; prepare loan application for underwriting, decisioning and closing; review appraisal, title and flood zone certification, as required; communicate ongoing loan status to all involved parties; prepare and audit  loan package for funding and cross-sell credit union products and services. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide counseling (including credit counseling) to members on home loan products, as well as the qualifications needed to successfully obtain a loan with the credit union;

Establish working relationships with member/applicants and serve as primary point of contact during the loan process;

Maintain constant communication with all parties to successfully close loans in a timely and efficient manner;

Obtain all needed financial information from prospective borrowers;

Assist with completion of loan application where needed;

Receive, evaluate and review loan applications for completeness;

Using credit union standards for underwriting, prequalify members for loans including providing standard credit union prequalification letter needed for the purchase process;

Prepare and send all loan disclosures within the regulatory timelines;

Verify information received from members and third-party vendors; 

Document all pertinent member and credit union team communications in the file and input in credit union processing system(s);

Document loan application with detailed notes for submission to underwriting, Loan Officer/Credit Committee; 

Review submission for completeness and accuracy prior to underwriter review for approval;

Request outside services, payoffs, verifications and releases as needed; 

Notify all parties when issues are identified; 

Assist servicing team members with preparation and review of all documents needed to close and fund the approved loan;

Actively solicit new business by maintaining relationships with realtors and other referral sources; 

Cross sell SCCCU’s products/services when appropriate; 

Maintain a pipeline management system to keep fellow team members and management informed of loans in process;

Assist management in responding to audit/exam inquiries and findings;

Assist with training of new team members;

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

At least 2 years of experience in real estate loan processing;

Associate’s Degree in a business-related discipline, preferred;

Possess thorough understanding of all key elements needed for successful processing and closing of a mortgage/mobile home loan including TRID, knowledge of FHLMC/FANNIE MAE Guidelines; good understanding all other applicable local, state, and federal lending regulations; familiarity with third party data sources, various tax structures, title/escrow processes and related funding activities;

Exceptional time management, multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving, accuracy and follow-through skills;

Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Bilingual Spanish/English oral and written language skills a plus;

Must have strong mathematical and calculation skills to include discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages;

Must be able to operate office equipment including 10-key calculator, the MS Office suite of products and industry-related software applications.

Working Hours:

Standard hours are 8:30AM – 5:30PM Monday – Friday 

Compensation:

$25.56 - $38.35 per hour DOE, for this full-time, non-exempt position.
