Since 1997, Absolute Auto Tech, Inc., a family-owned business, has been performing auto repair services in San Luis Obispo.  We are a full-service auto repair and smog testing facility. We offer services from simple oil changes to complex engine diagnostics. 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a B-Level Automotive Mechanic or higher, that wishes to excel in the automotive industry.   

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Preform automotive repairs on a variety of makes and models, with minimal supervision;

Conduct vehicle inspections to provide recommendations to customers for necessary repairs and required parts;

Evaluate vehicle issues and identify solutions;

Maintain, repair, or replace faulty parts, including engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, etc.,

Stay current with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques;

Complete and maintain repair orders for all services performed with accuracy and care;

Following the completion of the services performed, test drive vehicles and ensure all safety standards are met;

Maintain a clear and orderly work environment. 

Qualifications: 

At least a high school diploma; diploma / certification from a community college or trade school, preferred;

At least 4 - 6 years of relevant hands-on experience and technical training, or formal education in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle systems;

Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools, equipment and possess a personal set of tools;

Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to understand instructions, write memos, maintain clear and concise records, and communicate effectively with service advisor; 

Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions and analyze options,

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds in weight;

Valid CA driver’s license, clean driving record, and personal automotive insurance. 

Compensation: 

$34.00 - $40.00 per hour (DOE), for this full-time, non-exempt position, plus bonus based on billable hours.

Monthly health insurance stipend;

40 hours of standard CA annual paid sick time, which begins accruing on start date; eligibility for use after 90 days of employment and when time is banked;

80 hours of annual paid vacation, which begins accruing on start date; eligibility of use is after 90 days of employment and when time is banked;

3 paid public holidays annually; eligibility of which is after 90 days of employment;

Up to $50.00 per month for tool allowance;
