Children’s Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County is a non-profit organization established in 1970 focusing on providing low-income education, care and resource systems to under-represented children, their families and caregivers. 

Job Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Director, the WINGS Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally, linguistically and culturally appropriate preschool program, in accordance with Community Care Licensing.  The Preschool Teacher shall prayerfully instruct children 24 months to 5 years, in an environment where all children feel included, nurtured, loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Design and implement individual education programs for each child, according to assessed developmental needs;

Complete assessments and evaluations of children enrolled in the program;

Work collaboratively/co-teach with the Teacher Assistant, to ensure the program provides a Christian, safe, nurturing, play-based  and inclusive learning environment;

Implement faith-based positive behavioral strategies and conflict resolution practices;

Collaborate with families and staff to build Christ and child-centered curriculum learning activities for the children;

Communicate clearly, promptly, confidently and appropriately with the Director, staff and parents; the latter of which with respect to their values, academic, ethnic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds;

Inform parents regarding their child's educational plan and identify activities which parents can utilize as educational activities in the home; encourage parent participation;

Integrate program components of health, nutrition, parent education, social services and  mental health into the daily program of educational activities;.

Prepare and maintain classroom records / reports required for individual child, class and  program compliance, including attendance records;

Participate in center parent committee activities to review center activity progress and direction;

Direct assistants, volunteers and/or substitutes to provide an effective preschool program and  to ensure needs of the students are met;

Conduct / participate various in-service training programs and other events throughout the year. 

Qualifications: 

Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required;

Completion of 12 core semester units in Early Childhood Education/Development; or 6 completed semester units of Early Childhood Education and enrollment in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified;

6 months’ experience in a licensed childcare center, or comparable group child care program for children under 5 years of age;

Possess at least 12 ECE/Child Development Units, Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field desirable;

2 years’ experience providing instruction to children in an early childhood setting preferred;

California Child Development Teacher Permit, or higher-level permit required;

Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification within at least 2 years before start date;

Completion of a physical, Tuberculosis Clearance, Flu Vaccine or Flu Vaccine Waiver, TDAP, MMR vaccine;

Must pass a pre-employment background and fingerprint clearance;

Ability to lift at least 40 pounds in weight. 

Knowledge:

Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) certification on an ongoing basis;

Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale;

California Preschool Learning Framework & Curriculum Foundations;

Ages & Stages Questionnaires;

Community Care Licensing Title 22 for Child Care Centers. 

Professional Development Annual Requirement:

Mandatory 1 week teacher in-service training annually. 

Compensation:  

$21.00 - $24.00 per hour for this 40-hour full-time, non-exempt position.
