Job Summary:

Reporting to the Field Supervisor, The Driller operates the drill rig and manages Rig Hands to safely and efficiently complete water well drilling operations of each project. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively operate the rig and other technical equipment, in a fast-paced environment with little supervision and be able to work independently and with other crew members. In addition, the role requires the lifting of heavy objects and extensive physical tasks that will involve 12-hour workdays on a job site, typically in remote locations and requiring out of town travel.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Operate machinery and equipment following company standard operating procedures;

Perform job in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner, according to the project schedule;

Follow instructions of the Field Supervisor and Production Manager;

Always utilize appropriate safety equipment;

Maintain jobsite, equipment and supplies;

Arrive on time and reliable on a regular basis;

Inform Field Supervisor of scheduling conflicts with as much advance notice as possible;

Identify potential problems in the field and provide solutions;

Mentor and train junior personnel;

Arrive on time; submit daily timecards accurately and on time;

Immediately inform Field Supervisor of any jobsite injury and perform appropriate actions;

Support other crews, as required and fill in with assigned tasks as required;

Generate field data and reports as required;

Monitor performance of equipment and inform Field Supervisor of required maintenance;

Share technical experience and field knowledge with Field Supervisor to improve technical operations,  where possible.

Qualifications:

At least 1 year of drilling/rig operation experience;

Knowledge of industry standards and best practices;

Knowledge of CA geological conditions, a plus;

Experience supervising, managing and mentoring of junior personnel;

Ability to lift over 50 pounds throughout a 12-hour shift;

Ability to kneel, bend, squat and move around on uneven work surfaces and platforms;

Zero tolerance drug policy environment for equipment safety reasons;

Basic mechanical and welding knowledge;

Must be able to travel to job sites within a 300-mile radius of Paso Robles;

Valid CA driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment;

Coachable and open to learning. 

Working Hours:

12-hour shifts

Day/Night work

7 days/ Week for 7-20 days at a time. 

Compensation:

$24 - $27 per hour DOE, for this full-time, non-exempt position;

Additional compensation for valid CA CDL and welding certificates.
