Company Overview: 

Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. (ESAero) is a growing aerospace company in San Luis Obispo, providing various services which include, rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, electric aircraft design and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing. 

Job Summary: 

The CNC Machinist will work alongside our CNC Programmer in operating and programming machine tools, such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill press, bandsaw, etc., to produce precision metal or plastic parts. In addition, the candidate will produce high-quality parts, set up machines, write and test program and make adjustments as needed. 

Duties: 

Maintain machine shop equipment;

Set up and operate CNC and manual machines, per documentation;

Prepare stock;

Enter data into digital travelers;

Assist in managing inventory of consumables;

Utilize machining tools to modify and create parts;

Provide hands-on support to other shop operations, as needed. 

Qualifications: 

Proficiency and experience with machining tools and operations such as lathes, mills, drill press, and bandsaw;

At least 3 years of relevant experience to include CNC setup and operation involving 3-axis and 5-axis mills;

Ability to simultaneously monitor multiple CNC machines;

Demonstrated foundation in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing);

Technical hands-on capability, with attention to detail, including parts fabrication, assembly and general shop work/maintenance experience;

Ability to use basic precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.;

Experience with parts and inventory management, a plus;

CAD/CAM experience, a plus;

Experience with CNC pallet changers, a plus;

Ability to design fixturing, a plus. 

Working Hours:

Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM with flexibility on the schedule. 

Compensation:

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour DOE, for this full-time, non-exempt position.
