Job Summary: 

Reporting to the President, the Chief Financial Officer will act as a strategic business partner and be a key member of the executive management team, through providing financial and strategic leadership / management, dissemination of data and financial modeling for prospective development properties and will be a key participant in influencing the future direction of the company.  

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Provide oversight and management of the accounting department to include AP; AR; multi-entity GL control; payroll (including prevailing wage); taxation / reporting; compliance; risk management; and month-end reporting;

Lead, mentor and develop a high performing accounting department;

Manage company’s purchasing; insurance; cost accounting; budgeting; private and institutional financing;

Maintain company banking relationships; monitor and oversee lines of credit;

Generate monthly and annual financial reports to include monthly P&L, forecast versus budget and weekly cash flow by division;

Monitor capital expenditures, asset deployment activities and allocation of costs associated with these expenditures;

Monitor company’s internal control environment to ensure compliance;

Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data;

Assist with implementation of changes and improvement in automated financial and management information systems for the company;

Oversee the preparation of all related payroll tax reports and other necessary payroll reporting requirements;

Develop and maintain the company’s credit policies and procedures;

Monitor company’s AR processes, procedures and controls to ensure timely collection of receivables;

Manage financial planning and analysis capabilities; supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting;

Participate in weekly meetings/calls with lenders, vendors and executive leadership team;

Drive financial results and initiatives through implementation and management of KPIs;

Provide direct involvement in company property management deal analyses and negotiations;

Be instrumental in the company’s investor relationships and partnership compliance;

Establish and implement strategic company growth plans with management team;

In-depth understanding of GAAP standards. 

Qualifications: 

Proficiency in construction accounting, real estate development and real estate financing;

B.Sc. in Accounting; Finance, or similar discipline; MBA and or CPA preferred;

At least 10 years’ experience within an accounting-related leadership position, preferably within a construction environment;

Experience with corporate governance; proven negotiation skills;

At least 5 years’ experience within a Controller, or CFO role

Exemplary oral, written communication and interpersonal skills;

Proficient time management, organizational and attention to detail skills;

Ability to inspire confidence, create trust; ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions. 

Compensation:

Very competitive annual base salary for this full-time exempt position, plus benefits. 

Location:

Santa Maria, CA (in office and not remote position).
