Project Engineer-Heavy Hydraulic Equipment-Remote (Must Live in TX)

Bardex Corporation is a world-leader in the design and manufacturing of heavy industrial hydraulic equipment focused on marine industries such as offshore oil and gas and shipbuilding. Some typical products include skidding, leveling and restraining systems; mooring systems and riser pull-in systems for flotating production units and shipyard equipment to include ship-lift and transfer systems. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer will manage the engineering for assigned projects, from concept to completion and assume responsibility for planning, scheduling, coordinating assigned resources and completing related engineering work in conjunction with each project on time and within budget.
Plan, schedule, coordinate and complete assigned projects within budget;
Schedule and obtain quality requirements in conjunction with the Project Manager assigned to each project;
Ensure effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and project participants;
Write detailed design basis for each project; update design basis including technical scope changes;
Review product designs for compliance with applicable codes, engineering principles, company quality standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications;
Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as performance, safety, function, serviceability, budget and production costs/methods; determine and implement means for reducing project costs;
Participate and/or lead meetings with customers and contractors; assist in presentations and discussions involving all aspects of the project;
Provide well-organized and clearly-written monthly (or bi-weekly) progress reports to the customer for each project;
Provide oral and written reports of project status to management; conduct design reviews and safety reviews;
Analyze problems, oversee troubleshooting and assist Project Manager in writing engineering change orders;
Determine required tests and documents and oversee / evaluates results;
Coordinate reviews and approve all customer document requirements;
Determine spare parts required for each project and ensure parts are ordered early in the process to be ready for delivery, along with the main system equipment;
Work in conjunction with Sales Department to develop technical proposals; coordinate and approve proposal designs and verify estimates satisfy scope of work;
Stay current on latest technologies and engineering techniques relating to company products;
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes; maintain a collaborative work environment with all teams/departments to provide quality internal and external customer service.
B.Sc. in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering;
At least 3 years of demonstrated successful experience in a similar engineering role involving mechanical design, manufacturing of heavy machinery, equipment, preferably including hydraulic and/or automated industrial equipment;
Alternatively, combination of education and relevant experience;
Must be able to read, comprehend, interpret and synthesize complex engineering information;
Ability to develop project-based engineering schedules and manage project deliverables to schedule and budget;
Experience with 2D and 3D design software applications;
Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products;
Experience with basic principles of stress analysis; ANSI Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards; hydraulic principals and applications;
Ability to learn and comprehend code, regulations and specifications to company products to include AISC, JIC, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, ABS, DNV, etc.
8:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday, with flexibility on the schedule
$100K - $140K base salary DOE for this full-time, exempt position
