Job Summary: 

The Logistics Dispatch Manager will provide managerial oversight of the dispatch teams for all shifts (shifts are between 5:30AM - Midnight); establish effective working relationships with and be the point of contact for team members, truck drivers, interliners, external vendors and customers.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to learn, understand and execute the load planning / dispatching processes; drivers’ routines, processes and procedures; trailer pools; the brokerage process and vendor systems.  Through a structured Performance Review Schedule, the successful candidate will meet and exceed goals set forth to achieve full capacity of this role within 1 year or sooner. 

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Work each dispatch shift; get to know the dispatchers assigned to those shifts and master abilities to execute the positions effectively;

Learn and master the internal Truckmate software application;

Learn and fully understand client operational depot nuances, including shipping/receiving and related processes and procedures;

Learn and fully understand the brokerage process;

Learn and fully understand outside vendor systems and master accompanying software applications;

Following the training process, be able to sit at any dispatch seat to cover any shift at any given time;

Hire, train and mentor new dispatch employees;

Front-run and find quick and effective solutions to problems and/or potential problems to avoid any delays in the delivery process;

Ensure that a clear line of communication is maintained throughout the customer order delivery process with the dispatch team, the truck drivers and the customers;

Other duties as required.

Bachelor’s Degree, preferred;

Experience within the trucking / logistics industry, preferred;

Managerial experience, required;

Computer literate and proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products; ability to easily learn new software applications;

Exceptional time management, organizational, attention to detail, multi-tasking and follow-through skills;

Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment.

Working Hours:

Shift will be 9.5 hours Monday-Friday and every 3rd Saturday.  Start times may vary, but general workday will be between 7:00AM and 7:00PM.


$60-70K base salary DOE to start, for this full-time, exempt position, with performance review scheduled every 3 months, in an effort to raise salary accordingly upon achieving performance-related goals.

80 hours of paid vacation during the 1st year of employment; rising incrementally thereafter in subsequent years

Standard CA 24 hours of paid sick time annually allotted in a lump sum;
