Accounts Receivable Specialist

Poor Richard’s Press is a design and print business located in San Luis Obispo. 

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the owner and CFO, the Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for processing customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.  This person will also be responsible for processing customer payments, collections, reconciling customer balances and troubleshooting disputes or invoice errors. 

Duties / Responsibilities: 

Processing credit applications and setting up customers in the accounting system; keeping up-to-date resale certificate records; assisting clients with questions about their accounts;

Preparing, entering, and auditing invoices and credit memos

Sending invoices and statements to customers in a timely manner

Collections on outstanding invoices and notifying management of collections issues each week.

Processing invoices payments via credit cards, checks and cash receipts along with deposit

Reconciling AR balances with customers

Credit card receipts and bank deposit reconciliation to bank statements.

Other accounting duties as needed. 

General and Administrative: 

Communicate effectively with General Manager/Owner, outsourced CFO sales team, customer service and the production team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that both sales, invoicing and collections objectives are met;

Follow systems and procedures outlined in the company manuals;

Participate as a key team player by supporting operations as needed;

Provide ancillary customer service duties in answering phones, assisting clients with picking up

orders, managing print and embroidery projects as needed. 


Classify and record all company financial transactions to accurately determine company income, and revenue trends;

Act as liaison to outsourced CFO in providing high level reporting for Management and Owners.

Provide relevant training to customer service employees;

Document and update procedures as necessary. 

Financial Management: 

Prepare and maintain records, statistics, and reports relating to sales performance. 


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or 4 years’ accounting experience;

Knowledge of record keeping systems used within the printing industry;

Exemplary oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Astute organizational, time management, attention to detail, adherence to tight deadline and

customer service skills;

Ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a team environment. 


$20.00 - $30.00 per hour DOE for this full-time, non-exempt position.
