Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Manufacturing Purchasing Coordinator will play a crucial role in optimizing our supply chain operations, ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials, maintaining effective relationships with vendors and monitoring the process from start to finish.  In addition, the ideal candidate will be  responsible for coordinating purchasing activities, monitoring inventory levels and assisting in the development of purchasing strategies to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Strong analytical skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential for success in this role. 

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the procurement of materials and supplies required for our manufacturing processes, ensuring timely delivery and optimal inventory levels; Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production managers, suppliers and warehouse personnel, to monitor production timelines and inventory requirements;

Participate in inventory counting and reconciliation;

Run reports regularly for lead times and advise Manufacturing Manager in a timely manner accordingly; Assist in developing and implementing optimal purchasing strategies to minimize procurement costs and lead times; Source potential suppliers, conduct vendor evaluations and maintain positive relationships with supplier;. Monitor expected delivery dates of long lead time orders; provide advanced notice and find alternative sources of supplies when an incoming order will be unexpectedly late;

Monitor market trends, industry developments and technological advancements to identify potential improvements or cost-saving opportunities in the supply chain; Generate purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation of purchasing activities; Coordinate with the accounting department to ensure invoices are processed and payments are made in a timely manner; Collaborate with quality control personnel to address any quality-related issues with purchased materials; Evaluate and manage supplier performance, including assisting in conducting periodic supplier reviews and implementing corrective actions if necessary; Assist in the development and maintenance of purchasing-related reports, including tracking purchasing metrics and providing recommendations for improvement;

Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, a plus; Proven experience in purchasing and procurement roles within the manufacturing industry; Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices; Proficient in utilizing purchasing and inventory management software; Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Familiarity with production processes and materials used in manufacturing. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with suppliers. Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook;

Possess exceptional customer service skills:

Astute oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and analytical skills;

Exceptional time management, attention to detail, organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking and follow-through skills;

Ability to work well individually and within a team environment. 

Compensation:

$24.00 - $29.00 per hour DOE, for this full-time, non-exempt position. 

Benefits:

10 days of paid vacation annually on an accrual basis;

5 days of paid sick time annually on an accrual basis;

401(K) with an annual company match;

Health insurance stipend of $300 per month for employee and $450 per month for employee’s dependents;

Educational costs including tuition and books for classes related to employee’s position. 

Working Hours:

9:00AM – 5:00PM Monday – Friday 

Location:

Carpinteria, CA – After training period in the office, hybrid role working 2 days remotely and 3 days a week in the office is possible.
