Job Summary:

The General Manager will lead a team in delivering exceptional hospitality services and ensuring  memorable guest experiences.  The ideal candidate will provide hotel management, revenue generation oversight and exemplary customer service capabilities, while managing the daily operations, budgets and upholding the highest standards of guest satisfaction, in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for our guests.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Oversee and direct all aspects of the hotel operations, including front desk services, food and beverage/kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance and other relevant departments;

Ensure all departments are well run, while maximizing revenue/profit and minimizing operational costs and achieve or exceed guests’ expectations;

Ensure all labor costs are flexed according to levels of demand, activity and/or season, while ensuring balance between quality and cost through clustering and/or outsourcing are fully explored;

Review employee performance on a regular and consistent basis; offer coaching/guidance when appropriate;

Ensure employees are well-managed, provided with clear objectives; well-trained and deployed most productively;

Plan, organize, monitor employee activities in maintaining quality hotel standards;

Ensure continuous visual inspection of guest rooms and publicly shared spaces are in exceptional condition at all times;

Support hotel ownership, through effective management of operating expenses and purchasing inventory/supplies;

Monitor and maximize revenue oversight and opportunities daily;

Provide continuous upgrade and oversight of hotel’s social media marketing strategy regularly;

Monitor inventory of all departments to ensure no lapses in supplies;

Assist Accounting department with payroll and Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy and that bank deposits are accurate;

Maintain and build relationships with vendors to ensure continuous high standards and objectives of the hotel;

Manage property management (PMS) and point of sale (POS) systems.

Qualifications:

1 – 3 years of relevant experience in small hotel management;

At least high school diploma;

Computer savvy and knowledge of PMS and POS systems;

Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Exceptional time management, organizational, accuracy, multi-tasking, attention to detail, problem-solving and follow-through skills

Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and reliable transportation to work;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a collaborative team environment. 

Compensation:

$60K - $74K annual base salary, for this full-time, exempt position.

Paid Time Off:

40 hours of paid vacation during 1st year, which begins accruing on start date; increasing to 80 hours in 2nd year of employment;

40 hours of standard CA annual paid sick time allotted in a lump sum on start date and each anniversary date thereafter.
